(Overview)
A daily trivia expedition built around two opposite instincts: think obscure to go smaller, then think obvious to go bigger.
Magnitude turns five questions into two journeys. On the inner journey, rare correct answers take you towards smaller worlds. The same questions return on the outer journey, where familiar answers carry you towards a bigger universe. A short answer timer gives each decision a little pressure, while the space-inspired interface makes progress feel like exploration.
(The idea)
I wanted a trivia game with a reason to think beyond the first answer that comes to mind. Reusing the same questions in opposite directions creates that tension: knowing an obvious answer is useful, but so is finding a less familiar one.

(03)Two ways to think
The inner and outer journeys reward different answers to the same question. An answer used on the descent cannot be reused on the ascent, including aliases and alternate spellings.
Progress with personality
Expedition statistics, achievements, flags and explorers give the game a sense of continuity. The reward collection lets visitors browse what can be unlocked, with account-based progress for returning players.
A universe around the game
Pixel-art worlds, a scale-of-the-universe display and carefully paced transitions connect the interface to the idea of moving through orders of magnitude. The game remains the focus, with sound and motion controls available.
(The build)
The result is a browser game with a clear daily ritual: five questions, two directions and a different way to look at what you know. The live site is the place to play the current expedition.
